Itinerary day by day

D01 Arrive in Beijing and Sightseeing
Arrive in Beijing , meet with guide and transfer to hotel to have a rest. In the afternoon visit Heaven Temple (Tian Tan in Chinese).

D02Beijing Sightseeing
Stroll in the Tian An Men Square. Then go to visit Forbidden City (Gugong) and Summer Palace .

D03 Beijing Sightseeing
In the morning go to the Great Wall. In the afternoon visit the Ming Tombs. And in the evening, go for a Peking Opera Show.

D04 Arrive in Xi'an and Sightseeing
In the morning take flight from Beijing toXi'an . Upon arrival, transfer to hotel, have a rest. Then visit the Museum of Terra-cotta Army. Besides, visit Yan Ta (Big-Wild-Goose Pagoda).

D05 Xi'an Sightseeing
In the morning visit the Stone Tablet Forest . After that visit the Bell Tower and then stroll in the ancient city to have a view of the Ancient City Wall. Enjoy the Tang Dynasty show in the evening.

D06 Arrive in Lhasa and have a rest for acclimatization
Fly Xi'an to Lhasa , upon arrival at Gonggar Airport , be greeted and offered a white scarf (called Kada) in a Tibet traditional way which brings you good luck. Then drive to the city proper ( 3650 m ). On the way you will enjoy the spectacular scenery, and the typical Tibetan villages as well as the Yak-skin-boat cruising on Yalung Tsangpo River. Stay at the hotel for adapting to the high attitude upon your arrival. It is helpful to take things easy for the first few days, and try to drink some water just and now.

D07 Lhasa Sightseeing
Visit Potala Palace for the whole morning, then in the afternoon, have a view of the Jokang Monastery, then walk on the Barkhor street surrounding Jokhang, a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties .

D08 Lhasa Sightseeing
Visit Drepung Monastery for the whole morning, then in the afternoon, have a view of the Sera Monastery.

D09 Lhasa/Yamdrok Yumtso/ Lhasa
Drive along the Kyichu River . On the kanba La ( 4,796 m ) have a fantastic view of the holy lake of Yamdrok Yumtso ( 4441 m ). Then drive back to Lhasa .

D10 Lhasa/Xining
In the morning, transfer to train station, take morning train from Lhasa to Xining .

D11 Arrive in Xining and sightseeing
Arrive in Xining at 12.19pm in noon, be picked up by our guide in Xining side and transfer to the hotel, have a tour to Taer Monastery in the afternoon, then a free day at your disposal.

D12 Xining/Shanghai
Upon arrival in Shanghai , transfer to the hotel, have a tour to the Oriental Pearl Tower which stands by the bank of Huangpu River . It is in the centre of Lujiazui, opposite to the Bund which is famous for its grand buildings of various architectural styles, the Bund which is the waterfront area of Pu Xi ( West City ) that faces the newer part of Shanghai - Pu Dong ( East City ). The Bund has been regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years, and the Nanjing Road which is one of the most important commercial and tourist streets in Shanghai .

D13 Shanghai Sightseeing
Visit the Qibao Old Town , the Shanghai Museum and the Yuyuan Garden . The Farewell Dinner is served at Central Hotel, whose restaurant Wang Bao He has a history of around 260 years and is the best place to serve Shanghai Cuisine. The memorable dinner will be followed by the Portman Acrobatic Show at the Shanghai Centre Theatre.

Da14 Leave
Departure transfer to the airport to see off, tour services end.

Some tips for this trip:

1. Do not be afraid of the AMS. This route starts from Chengdu of Sichuan basin, then heading west to higher altitude. Although there are several passes beyond 4000m, there will be no problem due to the short passing time. (More about the Altitude Illness)
2. The restaurants along the way can provide simple Chinese and Tibetan food, but you’d better bring some solid food.
3. The best travel season for this route is May, June, September and October. Avoiding taking this route in July and August, landslide may occur during the rainy season.
4. The driving hour will be long for this tour, and most of visiting will be stay in the vehicle.
5. You'd better not go outside of the hotel in the night in the small towns or villages, for the sake of security.
