Overland Tour from Sichuan to Tibet

Itinerary day by day

Day1 Arrival in Chengdu
Our guide will pick you up at Chengdu airport and transfer to the hotel. Visit the Wangjiang Tower Park.

Day2 Chengdu - Wolong ¨C Chengdu
Transfer to Wolong Panda Reserve to visit the Panda Center and Panda Museum. Drive back to Chengdu. (B+L)

Day3 Chengdu - Leshan - Mt. Emei
Take car to Leshan Mountain. Visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, the biggest carvings in the world. Transfer to Emei and check in at the hotel. (B+L+D)

Day4 Mt. Emei ¨C Chengdu
Visit the Baoguo Temple and the Wannian Temple on Mt. Emei. Transfer back to Chengdu. (B+L)

Day5 Departure from Chengdu to Lhasa
Take the flight into Tibet. Local guide will meet you and transfer you to Lhasa. The rest time is free for relax and more oxygen

Day6 Sightseeing in Lhasa
Potala palace, the highest palace in the world! At the top the palace called golden roof, you can have a bird¡¯s-eye view of the whole of Lhasa. In the distance are undulating mountain ranges, the beautiful Lhasa River, tracts of fields, tree-shaded villages and the glistening of Jokhang Temple
Jokhang Temple is the first built during the period of Sontsan Gambo in the 7th century. You¡¯ll find that many Pilgrims pray before the monastery. Then sightseeing or shopping at Bakhor Bazaar near Jokhang Temple.

Day7 Sightseeing in Lhasa
Drepung monastery is the biggest monastery in Tibet and Norbulingka is the summer palace of Dalai Lama. Sera Monastery, there you can enjoy the exciting lection debating of Lama.

Day8 Lhasa¡ªGyantse
Yamdrok lake is one of the three most sacred lakes in Tibet and Pakhor monastery is famous for its mixture religions with several Tibetan Buddhism sects together and Kumbu pagoda.

Day9 Gyantse¡ªShigatse
Shalu monastery is the mixture architecture of Han style and Tibetan style.
Tashilumpo monastery is one of 6 biggest monasteries in Tibet and it is the residence of Panchen Lhasa. There you can enjoy the highest bronze Buddha statue, called future Buddha

Day10 Shigatse to Lhasa
Today we are going back to Lhasa and rest day is for free in stroll in this majestic land.

Day11 Lhasa to Air port/ Train Station
Our guide and drive will transfer you at air port/ train station and our service end here.

Some tips for this trip:

1. Do not be afraid of the AMS. This route starts from Chengdu of Sichuan basin, then heading west to higher altitude. Although there are several passes beyond 4000m, there will be no problem due to the short passing time. (More about the Altitude Illness)
2. The restaurants along the way can provide simple Chinese and Tibetan food, but you’d better bring some solid food.
3. The best travel season for this route is May, June, September and October. Avoiding taking this route in July and August, landslide may occur during the rainy season.
4. The driving hour will be long for this tour, and most of visiting will be stay in the vehicle.
5. You'd better not go outside of the hotel in the night in the small towns or villages, for the sake of security.
